General information

Description of the project

The project involves the new construction (drilling) of artesian well No. 1 in the village of Molodizhne to ensure water supply to the Chornomorsk urban territorial community. The implementation of the project will allow creating an autonomous source of drinking water, independent of centralized systems and the stability of electricity supply. The project is aimed at solving the problem of the vulnerability of the existing water supply system in conditions of martial law, emergency power outages and possible damage to critical infrastructure. The lack of sufficient backup creates risks of interruptions in the provision of water to the population. As a result of the project, a stable and uninterrupted water supply will be ensured, a reserve source of water for the population will be created, and the sustainability of the community's life support system will be increased. The expected productivity of the well is up to 110 m³/day, which will allow covering the needs of a significant part of the population.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Secondary Goal:

Improving the equality of wealth distribution, Improving the quality of services

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The project's goal is to improve the water supply infrastructure and expand access for residents of the Black Sea urban territorial community to high-quality and uninterrupted water supply services by constructing an artesian well. Currently, the community's water supply system depends on centralized sources and the stability of electricity supply, which in conditions of martial law, emergency power outages and potential damage to critical infrastructure creates risks of interruptions or complete cessation of water supply. This indicates a gap between the current state (limited reliability and insufficient level of redundancy) and the target level (stable, accessible and safe water supply). The goal is expected to be achieved by drilling and equipping an artesian well, installing water lifting equipment, equipping a sanitary protection zone and integrating the facility into the existing water supply system. The implementation of the project will create an autonomous water source, increase the reliability of the infrastructure and ensure continuous access of the population to basic services even in crisis conditions.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

The key problem is the community's complete dependence on an external supplier of drinking water and the lack of its own alternative sources of water supply. In the context of armed aggression by the Russian Federation, there is a constant threat of damage to the main pipeline due to missile strikes or drone attacks, as well as the risk of a complete power outage of the water treatment plant, which makes its operation impossible. In the event of such events, the community may be left without centralized water supply for an indefinite period. This creates the prerequisites for a humanitarian crisis, worsening of the sanitary and epidemiological situation, and threats to the livelihoods of the population. The implementation of the project involves the creation of autonomous artesian wells as independent sources of water supply. This will ensure backup water supply in the event of damage to external infrastructure or power outages, increase the community's resilience to emergencies, and guarantee continuous access to drinking water for the population.
