General information

Description of the project

The project provides for a major overhaul of the roof of the House of Culture, namely:

  • dismantling the roof covering made of asbestos-cement corrugated sheets;
  • replacing the wood of the existing rafter system elements that have lost their load-bearing capacity and laths; 
  • installing a new roof covering made of metal profiles;
  • installing snow retainers;
  • installing a roof fence;
  • installing a water drainage system;
  • protecting structures from corrosion, rotting and burning.

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The major repair of the roof of the Zhyrychi Village Culture House involves replacing asbestos-cement sheets with metal profiles, replacing the wood of existing rafter system elements that have lost their load-bearing capacity and laths, installing roof fencing, installing snow retainers and a spillway system, which will create comfortable and safe conditions for employees, participants in amateur creative groups, library readers, visitors to cultural and artistic events and activities, and receiving residents of the Zhyrychiv Starostyn district (resolving local issues, providing information and accepting appeals), as the destroyed condition of the roof has led to the ceiling and walls in most rooms becoming wet and the formation of dampness and mold, which in turn creates unfavorable conditions for employees and visitors to the institution. Replacing the roof will increase energy efficiency and save heating costs by 30%, as well as improve the aesthetic appearance of the cultural center building as a multifunctional cultural and educational center in the district, providing leisure, developing amateur creativity, and preserving cultural heritage.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

The roof of the Zhyrychi village community center has significant damage to asbestos-cement corrugated sheets and requires replacement with a TP-35 metal profile coating, the existing elements of the rafter system have lost their load-bearing capacity and must be replaced with second-grade wood with a moisture content of no more than 15%, the newly installed wooden structures require mandatory protection against rotting, according to the requirements of DSTU and fire-retardant treatment with DSA-1, the current lack of spillway and snow retention systems creates the need to arrange them for further organized water drainage and prevention of avalanche-like snow drift from the roof of the building. The damaged roof does not meet the appropriate safety requirements and modern construction quality standards. The implementation of the project will create comfortable and safe conditions for employees and visitors of the institution, increase energy efficiency and save on heating costs, and improve the aesthetic appearance of the building.
