General information

Description of the project

The project involves the construction of a pumping station and a pressure sewer pipeline to drain wastewater from the MSW landfill on Chornivska Street to the existing sewer collector on I. Pidkovy Street in Chernivtsi. The sewage pumping station will receive wastewater from the landfill via gravity pipelines and local networks, after which it will be pumped through a pressure sewer pipeline to the existing collector. The construction of the pumping station and the pressure sewer pipeline is being carried out in one turn.

The purpose of the project

Main goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Secondary goal:

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The purpose of the public investment project is to improve the condition of the infrastructure by building a sewage pumping station and a pressure sewer pipeline to drain wastewater from the territory of the solid waste landfill to the existing city sewer collector. The achievement of the main goal is ensured by installing a sewage pumping station, which will receive wastewater from the landfill via gravity pipelines, and their subsequent pumping through a pressure sewer pipeline to the existing sewer collector. The project is planned to be implemented in one phase. An additional goal of the project is to increase the level of compliance with modern standards, which is achieved by connecting the facility to a centralized wastewater system and operating the sewer infrastructure in accordance with current state building codes and technical requirements. The gap between the current state and the target level is due to the lack of engineering sewage infrastructure for centralized wastewater discharge from the MSW landfill, which makes it impossible for the facility to function properly. The target state assumes the presence of an operating pumping station and pressure pipeline, which ensure the organized discharge of wastewater to city networks.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

The key problem is the lack of an organized wastewater discharge system from the MSW landfill to the existing sewerage networks, which creates risks of soil and groundwater contamination. If this problem is not resolved, the sanitary and ecological condition of the landfill and adjacent lands may deteriorate, which is confirmed by the need to discharge wastewater to a centralized sewage system. The implementation of the project will ensure organized and continuous discharge of wastewater from the MSW landfill to the city sewer collector, which will contribute to improving the sanitary condition of the territory and ensuring the proper functioning of the facility.
