General information

Description of the project

The project involves the restoration of a cultural heritage site of local importance — — ‘Group of Graves of Soviet Soldiers: 6 Mass Graves’, located in the Park of Memory and Reconciliation on Serhiy Nigoyan Avenue in the city of Dnipro. The goal of the project is to preserve the historical monument and restore its original appearance by carrying out a complex of restoration works, including repairing the brickwork of the stele, updating the tombstones, replacing information signs, installing a new paving and covering with FEM tiles, painting the facades and landscaping the territory. The implementation of the project will ensure the proper technical and aesthetic condition of the memorial, create conditions for accessibility for visitors, including low-mobility groups, and contribute to the preservation of historical memory and the formation of patriotic consciousness of the city community.

The purpose of the project

Main goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The purpose of the project is to ensure the preservation and restoration of a cultural heritage site of local importance - the memorial complex "Group of Graves of Soviet Soldiers: 6 Mass Graves", location: Serhiy Nihoyan Ave., Park of Memory and Reconciliation, Dnipro", in order to maintain the proper technical condition of the monument, perpetuate historical memory and create decent conditions for visiting by citizens. Ways to achieve the goal: carrying out a complex of repair and restoration works in accordance with the current norms and rules for the protection of cultural heritage; restoring the architectural elements of the monument, including the brick stele, tombstones and paving; replacing the destroyed plaques with the names of the fallen soldiers with new durable slabs; landscaping the adjacent territory with the arrangement of a FEM tile covering and landscaping; ensuring the accessibility of the monument for people with limited mobility. Justification of the gap between the current state and the planned result: Today, the monument is in an unsatisfactory technical condition - the brickwork of the stele is partially destroyed, the paving is damaged, the original decorative decoration is lost, and the territory needs improvement. This creates a threat of further degradation of the object and the loss of its historical and memorial value. The implementation of the project will allow restoring the authentic appearance of the memorial, extending its service life, ensuring safe conditions for visitors, and contributing to the formation of patriotic and historical consciousness of the city community.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

Key issues: The memorial complex “Group of Graves of Soviet Soldiers” is in unsatisfactory technical condition — the brick stele is damaged, the pavement is destroyed, and some of the plaques with the names of the soldiers are lost. The territory needs improvement and accessibility for people with limited mobility. Relevance: The object is an important historical monument and a place of commemoration of the dead, and its decline creates a risk of losing cultural value. Restoring the memorial is a relevant task in the context of preserving historical memory and forming the patriotic consciousness of the community. Expected results: The implementation of the project will ensure the preservation of the monument, restoration of its original appearance, improvement of the territory, creation of conditions for safe visits and worthy commemoration of the fallen.
