General information

Description of the project

Creation of a modern educational space in Dnipro Lyceum No. 97 of the Dnipro City Council (hereinafter - Lyceum No. 97) as part of the implementation of an experimental project to introduce educational programs developed on the basis of a standard educational program for grades 10-12 of secondary education institutions, by creating 5 classrooms/laboratories: physics; chemistry; biology; mathematics; computer science and robotics.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Increasing compliance with modern standards

Secondary Goal:

Improving the quality of services

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

Ensuring high-quality implementation of state standards of general secondary education and creating appropriate conditions for the formation of subject and key competencies of students in the subjects of the mathematical educational field; natural educational field; computer educational field; interdisciplinary integrated courses (STEM, robotics). In-depth profile study of academic disciplines, aimed at developing a scientific worldview, research thinking and the ability to apply knowledge in practical activities. Effective teaching is impossible without the functioning of properly equipped classrooms/laboratories that ensure laboratory and practical work, organization of research activities and the formation of experimental skills. The creation of an educational space equipped with modern equipment for classrooms/laboratories of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science and robotics is an educationally justified and necessary condition for ensuring the conditions for the implementation of an experimental project on the introduction of educational programs developed on the basis of a typical educational program for grades 10–12 of general secondary education institutions (implementation of the content of specialized secondary education), achieving learning outcomes and forming a scientific worldview, research skills and practical skills in students in preparation for admission to higher education institutions in the chosen profile.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

Despite the presence of classrooms for physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and computer science, the current level of their material and technical support is insufficient for the full implementation of the practical component of educational programs and the formation of research competencies of students. The limited amount of modern educational equipment makes it difficult to organize laboratory and practical work in full. In such conditions, the educational process often focuses mainly on the theoretical study of educational material, which does not fully correspond to the competency-based approach provided for by the "New Ukrainian School" reform. The solution to this problem is envisaged by modernizing classrooms/laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics; computer science and robotics, namely: carrying out repairs in classrooms for the specified disciplines, purchasing modern educational equipment and didactic materials for creating laboratories for physics; chemistry; biology; mathematics; computer science and robotics. When creating and arranging the educational space, it is planned to take into account the principles of universal design and reasonable accommodation. This will ensure the accessibility of the educational environment for all participants in the educational process, in particular for people with special educational needs, and will contribute to the creation of safe and ergonomic conditions for conducting laboratory and practical work. The implementation of the project will ensure the creation of modern classrooms/laboratories, which will contribute to improving the quality of the educational process, developing the research skills of students and fully implementing the content of specialized secondary education in the context of the implementation of the "New Ukrainian School" reform.

Alternative technical solutions

Technical Solution 1

"Creation of educational space in pilot educational institutions within the framework of the implementation of the "New Ukrainian School" reform in educational institutions of the city of Dnipro"

Technical Solution 2

Advantages (Pros) • Economic efficiency: Funds are spent specifically on “stuffing” (microscopes, sensors, panels), and not on expensive general construction work or redevelopment of premises. • Speed of implementation: The space is updated within one procurement and installation cycle. This allows teachers to start working with new equipment in the current academic year. • Technological leap: Even in the old building, a modern digital laboratory appears that meets the requirements of the National School of Education and prepares students for real scientific research (STEM approach). • Preservation of human resources: Teachers are motivated to work in a familiar environment, but with new generation tools, which increases the prestige of the institution.
