General information

Description of the project

The project is aimed at increasing the reliability and safety of Ukraine's high-voltage energy infrastructure by implementing modern relay protection and control devices (IED) at the facilities of NPP "Ukrenergo" in the most affected regions (Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv regions, etc.). It is also planned to provide remote technical support from Hitachi Energy (Switzerland and Ukraine), which will ensure the effective use of equipment, the development of personnel competencies and the formation of sustainable engineering expertise within Ukrenergo.
The project meets the priorities of the Government of Ukraine regarding the restoration of energy infrastructure and is critically important, since without reliable power supply, the development of any sector of the economy is impossible - from industry to the humanitarian sphere. IED protection allows you to localize accidents and prevent cascading shutdowns of networks, fires or destruction of transformers, reactors and other high-value equipment.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Secondary Goal:

Improving the quality of services

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

Meeting the urgent needs of Ukraine's energy sector, characterized by frequent damage to the power grid due to military operations and the complexity of operating a high-voltage power grid without a reliable protection and control system

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

The main problem is the wear and tear or destruction of relay protection systems, which creates a risk of accidents and damage to expensive high-voltage equipment. This leads to frequent power outages and threatens the security of the country's critical infrastructure. The implementation of the project will allow restoring reliable network protection, reducing the number of accidents, preserving equipment, preventing mass outages and ensuring stable operation of the power system. This will contribute to energy security and sustainable economic development, as well as contributing to increasing the institutional and technical capacity of Ukrenergo engineers.
