General information

Description of the project

The project involves the reconstruction of an emergency section of a 600 mm diameter water main in the area of the village of Sukhyi Lyman, Odessa district, Odessa region, which provides centralized water supply to the settlements of Sukhyi Lyman, Burlacha Balka, Malodolynske, garden societies and local enterprises. The existing water main, built in 1984, is in an emergency state due to significant corrosion of pipes, destruction of water wells and shut-off valves. In recent years, accidents have regularly occurred on this section, which leads to interruptions in water supply and significant water losses. The project plans to reconstruct a section of the water main about 460 m long with the replacement of steel pipes with modern polyethylene pipes, the construction of new water wells, the installation of modern shut-off valves and the performance of necessary construction and installation works. The implementation of the project will ensure reliable and uninterrupted water supply for over 5,500 community residents, reduce the number of network accidents, reduce water losses, and increase the energy and infrastructure sustainability of the community's water supply system.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Secondary Goal:

Capacity building, Increasing compliance with modern standards, Improving the equality of wealth distribution, Improving the quality of services

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The purpose of the project is to modernize and restore reliable operation of the centralized water supply system by reconstructing the emergency section of the main water supply pipe DN 600 mm in the area of the village of Sukhyi Lyman, Odessa district, Odessa region. The implementation of the project is aimed at improving the condition of critical engineering infrastructure, improving the quality of water supply services and ensuring stable access to drinking water for residents of the settlements of Sukhyi Lyman, Burlacha Balka, Malodolynske and adjacent territories. The need to implement the project is due to significant physical wear and tear of the existing water supply pipe, built in 1984, which has been operated beyond its standard service life and is in an emergency state. Due to corrosion of pipes and damage to water wells, accidents regularly occur in this area, which leads to interruptions in water supply and water losses. The project goal is expected to be achieved by replacing worn-out steel pipes with modern polyethylene pipelines, constructing new water wells, installing modern shut-off valves, and performing a range of construction and installation works. The project will increase the reliability of the water supply system, reduce the number of network accidents, reduce water losses, and ensure stable water supply for over 5,500 community residents.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

The main problem is the critical technical condition of the section of the main water pipeline Du 600 mm in the area of the village of Sukhyi Lyman, which provides water supply to several settlements of the Black Sea territorial community. The existing pipeline was built in 1984 and has been operated beyond its standard service life, which has led to significant physical wear, corrosion destruction of pipes and damage to related infrastructure elements. As a result of wear and tear of the pipeline, accidents regularly occur on this section, which cause interruptions in water supply, water loss and additional costs for emergency restoration work. The complex engineering and geological conditions of the territory, in particular flooding and proximity to the estuary, further accelerate the processes of pipe destruction and worsen the operational condition of the network. The urgency of solving these problems is due to the need to ensure stable and uninterrupted water supply for residents of settlements of the community, as well as prevent further deterioration of the critical engineering infrastructure. If the problem is not resolved, there is a risk of large-scale accidents in the water supply system, prolonged water supply outages, increased water losses and increased costs for network maintenance. The implementation of the project will allow replacing the damaged section of the pipeline with modern polyethylene pipes, increasing the reliability of the water supply system, reducing the number of accidents and water losses, and ensuring a stable and high-quality water supply for the community.
