General information

Description of the project

The project provides for major repairs of sidewalks and the intersection on Volodymyr Kozak Street from Monastyrska Street to  Vyacheslav Chornovola Street, and the installation of elevated pedestrian crossings. In the remaining places where pedestrian sidewalks connect with the roadway at pedestrian crossings, the curbstone is lowered to the level of the roadway to allow movement of people with reduced mobility. The width of the sidewalk, its longitudinal and transverse slopes in accordance with the requirements of current regulatory documents, allow the movement of people with reduced mobility. To provide means of safety, orientation and information for people with visual impairments, the project provides for the installation of tactile accessibility elements in the areas where sidewalks are installed, which include tactile strips that contrast in color and texture from the surface on which they are installed. The use of warning and guiding tactile strips is envisaged.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Secondary Goal:

Improving the equality of wealth distribution

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The project aims to ensure accessibility and safety of movement for all categories of the population, in particular persons with disabilities (PWDs), by creating a barrier-free space on the sidewalks and intersections of Volodymyr Kozak St. from Monastyrska St. to Vyacheslav Chornovola St. in the city of Poltava. The goal is achieved through major repairs of sidewalks and intersections with the replacement of worn-out pavement with modern and even, the installation of ramps, lowered curbs and tactile strips for the visually impaired, the reconstruction of pedestrian crossings in compliance with safety and accessibility standards, the organization of safe movement of pedestrians during the work, the installation of road signs, as well as technical and author's supervision to ensure that the work complies with design solutions, building codes and inclusion standards, which ultimately creates a comfortable, safe and accessible urban space for all residents.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

On the section of Volodymyr Kozak St. from Monastyrska St. to Vyacheslav Chornovola St., there are worn-out sidewalks and intersections, no ramps, lowered curbs and tactile strips, which restricts the movement of people with disabilities, the elderly and parents with strollers, and pedestrian crossings do not meet modern safety and accessibility standards, creating a risk of injury and discomfort for residents. The project involves major repairs of sidewalks and intersections, the installation of ramps, lowered curbs, tactile strips and adapted crossings, which ensures safe, comfortable and barrier-free movement of pedestrians, increases the level of social inclusion and improves the quality of the urban environment for all categories of the population.
