Overview
The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy is the main body in the system of central bodies of executive power, which ensures the formation and implementation of state policy in the spheres of culture, state language policy, popularization of Ukraine in the world, state foreign language, information sovereignty of Ukraine (in terms of powers to manage a complete property complex Ukrainian National Information Agency "Ukrinform") and information security, as well as ensures the formation and implementation of state policy in the areas of restoration and preservation of national memory, arts, protection of cultural heritage, museum affairs, export, import and return of cultural values.
MKIP is the main body in the system of central bodies of executive power, which ensures the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of media, information and publishing.
Policy spheres of competence of the ICIP:
- Information policy and security: strengthening information security and countering Russian propaganda; providing access to information; media support at the international, national and local levels; formation of a positive image of Ukraine.
- Cultural heritage - protection of cultural heritage: return of cultural values of the people of Ukraine stolen or lost as a result of military operations.
- Digital transformations in culture: digitization and creation of registers of objects of cultural heritage, Museum Fund, archives, musical heritage, intangible cultural heritage, religious organizations; interaction and integration of registries, administration and certification.
- Culture - development of the Ukrainian language: creation of modern cultural infrastructure; incentives to increase the level of population involvement in cultural practices and consumption of cultural services.
- Art and art education: strengthening cultural potential in order to provide wide access to various ways of self-expression and self-development through art; ensuring the development of cultural institutions in the field of arts; increasing the availability of art education.
- Restoration and cultural reintegration: restoration of cultural heritage sites; resumption of activities of cultural institutions in safe territories; formation of personnel reserve.
- National memory: completion of "decommunization" processes; completion of infrastructure projects in the field of memory; reinterpretation of the history of Ukraine with its inclusion in the European and world context and the exclusion of orientation towards the Russian tradition.
- Book publishing and libraries: replacement of Soviet Russian-language funds of public libraries with modern literature; grant support in the field of book publishing.
- Creative industries: preservation of employment in the field of creative industries and strengthening of state institutions in the field of creative industries; promotion of Ukrainian creative goods and services on international markets; supporting the export capacity of creative industries.
