The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Increasing compliance with modern standards

Secondary Goal:

Improving the equality of wealth distribution

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The goal of the project is to create a modern, safe and comfortable public space in the central part of the city of Mykolaiv by reconstructing Independence Square. The project is aimed at: improving the landscaping and aesthetic appearance of the central square; ensuring comfortable conditions for recreation, holding mass events and leisure of residents; arranging pedestrian zones, landscaping and lighting the territory; increasing the level of safety and accessibility of the environment for all population groups (including people with reduced mobility); forming an attractive urban space that will contribute to the development of the local community and the tourist attractiveness of the city.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

Today, Independence Square in the city of Mykolaiv is in an unsatisfactory technical and aesthetic condition, which creates a number of problems of a social, functional and infrastructural nature. The main problems that the project should solve: Outdated pavement and landscaping. The destruction of sidewalks and squares, unevenness, the lack of modern materials worsen the safety and comfort of movement. Insufficient lighting and safety. The existing lighting system does not provide the proper level of visibility, which reduces safety in the evening. Lack of a barrier-free environment. There are no ramps, convenient passages for people with disabilities, parents with wheelchairs and the elderly. Worn-out landscaping and lack of an irrigation system. Existing green spaces are degrading, the area is losing its aesthetics and comfort. Outdated engineering networks. The lack of proper drainage causes flooding and destruction of the pavement. Insufficient attractiveness of public space. The territory does not stimulate social activity, cultural events and leisure. Relevance of the problems: Modern urban spaces should be safe, inclusive and comfortable for all categories of citizens. The lack of proper landscaping reduces the quality of life of residents and creates a negative image of the city. Possible consequences if the problems are not resolved: further degradation of infrastructure and increased costs for repairs in the future; reduction of public activity and cultural life; reduction of the city's tourist attractiveness. Expected positive changes as a result of the project: creation of comfortable, modern and safe public space; Improvement of the aesthetic appearance of the central part of the city; increasing the level of social interaction and community involvement; formation of a positive image of the city as open and attractive to visitors and residents
