General information

Description of the project

Artsyz Lyceum No. 5 is located in the center of the city of Artsyz and is the largest school in the community by the number of students. The school has 750 students, who are forced to study in 2 shifts, since there are not enough classrooms. The school has 3 buildings. There is no gym on the school territory, it is located not on the school territory, but at a distance of 500 meters. The distance from the gym to the school makes it impossible to create conditions for optimal development and improvement of the level of physical fitness and health of children. Moreover, life-threatening conditions are created due to the fact that students are forced to cross the territorial public highway of state importance twice - T-1627 (Sarata-Artsyz-Tarutine-Serpneve) with a large amount of traffic, which runs through the city of Artsyz.      There are no internal toilets. The catering unit, dining hall, which is designed for only 90 seats, library, workshops, and children's creativity room are located in a building that requires replacement due to the building's dilapidation.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Secondary Goal:

Increasing compliance with modern standards, Increasing compliance with modern standards, Ensuring inclusiveness and equal opportunities, Improving the quality of services

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

Ensuring proper conditions for obtaining quality education by modernizing educational infrastructure, introducing innovative educational technologies and creating a safe, inclusive environment for all participants in the educational process. - Infrastructure modernization - Reconstruction and overhaul of educational institutions. - Insulation of facades, replacement of windows, modernization of heating and ventilation systems. - Ensuring barrier-free access (ramps, elevators, adapted bathrooms). - Equipping with modern equipment - Purchase of computer equipment, interactive panels, STEM laboratories. - Arrangement of catering units in accordance with sanitary norms and HACCP standards. - Creation of resource rooms, media libraries, psychological relief zones. - Digitalization of the educational process - Introduction of electronic journals, distance learning platforms. - Connecting institutions to high-speed Internet. - Training teachers in digital competencies. - Improving staff skills - Conducting trainings, seminars, certification programs for teachers. - Involving experts in inclusive education, psychologists, speech therapists. - Ensuring safety and inclusivity - Installing video surveillance systems, fire alarms. - Organizing a safe educational environment for children with special needs. - Implementing anti-bullying and psychosocial support programs. The existing gap between the current state of the educational infrastructure and the target level of providing quality education is significant and multi-component. Today, a significant part of educational institutions operates in conditions that do not meet modern requirements for safety, energy efficiency, inclusivity, and digitalization. About 40% of buildings need major repairs, and the material and technical base of most schools is outdated and does not provide the proper level of educational services. Only a third of educational institutions are equipped with modern equipment, which limits the possibilities of implementing innovative teaching methods. Access to high-quality Internet and digital platforms is uneven, which creates digital inequality between students from different regions. In addition, the level of adaptation of the educational environment for children with special educational needs remains critically low - only 15% of institutions have barrier-free elements. The qualifications of teaching staff also require systematic updating: more than a third of teachers do not possess modern digital competencies, which complicates the integration of the latest technologies into the educational process. Thus, to achieve the target level - the creation of a safe, inclusive, technologically equipped educational environment - a comprehensive intervention is necessary, covering infrastructure modernization, digital transformation, staff strengthening and ensuring equal access to quality education for all children regardless of their place of residence or developmental characteristics.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

Key issues: dilapidated buildings, lack of inclusiveness, outdated equipment, weak digitalization, low level of security. Relevance: educational reform, growing community needs, requirements for quality and accessibility of education. Consequences of not addressing: deterioration in the quality of education, educational inequality, health risks. Expected changes: safe, modern, inclusive environment, improving the quality of education, digital transformation.
