Description of the project

The project involves major repairs of the water supply network in the village of Novofedorivka, Mykolaiv district, Mykolaiv region. 

The implementation of the project is aimed at ensuring a stable water supply for the population.

The project plans to: completely replace worn-out pipelines with polyethylene pipes from PE100SDR17, upgrade equipment at wells (pumps, control elements and electrical networks from existing entry points), provide water supply  from three wells (No. 120-g91, No. 216, No. 128), install water collection wells with the ability to connect up to 10 subscribers in each, install distribution combs with 1¾ taps for connecting subscribers,  installation of water metering units.

The result will be an uninterrupted supply of high-quality drinking water for 945 residents of the village and infrastructure facilities, a reduction in accident rates and operating costs.

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The project objective is to provide stable, uninterrupted and safe centralized water supply to the village of Novofedorivka through major repairs of the water supply network. The project objective is achieved by completely replacing worn-out pipelines of various materials with modern PE100 SDR17 polyethylene pipes along the entire network length of 11.4 km. Chaotic subscriber connections through saddle joints are eliminated by installing water collection wells with the possibility of centralized connection of up to 10 subscribers in each. To ensure control and reduce water losses, it is planned to install water metering units. Stable operation of the water supply system is achieved through a major renovation of well equipment, including pumps, control systems and power supply; installation of fire hydrants. The water supply system is designed as a direct-acting system without storage tanks, with a design capacity of 450 m³/day. Justification of the gap: the current technical condition of the water supply network does not allow for uninterrupted, safe and high-quality water supply. The existing networks are physically worn out and do not meet modern technical and sanitary requirements. The implementation of the project is the only way to achieve the target level of water supply.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

The water supply network is worn out. The polyethylene pipes are thin-walled. Frequent bursts lead to water loss. The connection of subscribers is chaotic. There are no inspection wells and water dispensers. The fire-fighting water supply is not functioning. Part of the population receives water through water tankers. The water quality is technical and does not meet sanitary standards. The problems are urgent, because the network breakdown rate is increasing. The population and social facilities are left without a stable water supply. The lack of fire-fighting equipment creates a security threat. Failure to resolve these problems will lead to further bursts, costs for emergency repairs, increased morbidity and social tension. The implementation of the project will ensure uninterrupted water supply for 945 residents. The network breakdown rate and repair costs will be reduced. The quality of drinking water will increase. Fire-fighting water supply is provided. Sanitary conditions and the ecological state of the village will improve. The comfort of life and the population's trust in local authorities will increase.
