General information

Description of the project

The project envisages the creation and improvement of a barrier-free environment in the community. The project aims to create a comfortable and safe environment for all community residents, in particular for people with disabilities, low-mobility groups, parents with strollers and the elderly. The project aims to improve the quality of the urban environment, which will increase the level of satisfaction of residents and the attractiveness of the city for visitors

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Ensuring inclusiveness and equal opportunities

Secondary Goal:

Increasing compliance with modern standards, Improving the condition of infrastructure, Improving the quality of services

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The main goal of the project is to create a barrier-free and inclusive urban environment in the city of Drohobych by arranging a specially designated route that will ensure comfortable and safe movement for all residents of the community, including people with disabilities, low-mobility groups, the elderly and parents with strollers. To implement the goal, a set of measures is provided: creating a barrier-free route 1.2 km long. Construction and infrastructure works: arranging lowered curbs at pedestrian crossings; installing ramps and entrances in areas of public facilities; laying tactile tiles and arranging guiding elements for people with visual impairments; arranging safe pedestrian crossings with markings, as well as barrier-free access to cultural and medical institutions, the administrative services center, residential buildings and business facilities.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

Key problems to be solved: lack of barrier-free infrastructure on most streets and public facilities of the city; there are no ramps, lowered curbs, tactile paving and accessible pedestrian crossings. This creates obstacles for low-mobility groups of the population: people with disabilities, the elderly, parents with strollers. Limited access to socially important facilities; current infrastructure complicates travel to medical, administrative, educational and social institutions. The lack of a systematic barrier-free route complicates planning safe and comfortable routes for residents. Insufficient level of traffic safety Damaged pavements, lack of lighting in pedestrian areas and improper marking create risks of injuries, especially for low-mobility groups. Social isolation of low-mobility groups of the population Inadequate infrastructure limits the participation of people with disabilities and the elderly in public life, which reduces the level of social integration. Relevance of the problems The increase in the share of low-mobility groups in the community makes the problem of accessibility critical for ensuring equal opportunities. The lack of a barrier-free environment contradicts modern standards of inclusion and state regulations for the arrangement of public spaces. The social and economic activity of the community directly depends on the accessibility of infrastructure facilities for all population groups. Possible consequences if the problems are not resolved Further restriction of the rights of low-mobility groups, social isolation and a decrease in the quality of life. Increased risk of injuries due to an inadequate pedestrian environment. Reduced accessibility of administrative and medical services for a significant part of the population. Deterioration of the image of the community as an open and inclusive community. Expected positive changes after the implementation of the project Formation of the first continuous barrier-free route, providing access to key social and administrative facilities of the community. Increased level of safety and comfort of movement for all residents, especially for low-mobility groups. Increasing social integration of people with disabilities and the elderly, their active involvement in public life. Positive image of the city as an inclusive and friendly community for all residents. Creating prerequisites for further development of modern and accessible infrastructure.
