Description of the project

The project involves the acquisition and implementation of modern STEM laboratories in physics, geography and mathematics for the Khorolskaya Gymnasium. 

Its goal is to create an innovative educational environment that will promote the development of critical thinking, research skills and practical application of knowledge by students.

The project plans to equip classrooms with modern laboratory equipment, interactive teaching aids, digital measuring complexes and software for modeling processes and phenomena. This will make the educational process  more visual, interactive and closer to the real conditions of scientific activity.

The implementation of the project will contribute to improving the quality of science and mathematics education, developing students' STEM competencies, preparing them for further education and professional activity, as well as increasing the competitiveness of the educational institution.

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The project is aimed at creating a modern STEM space in the flagship institution "Khorolskaya Gymnasium" by purchasing, installing and effectively using laboratories in physics, geography and mathematics. The main idea is to transition from traditional teaching to practice-oriented learning, where students not only receive theoretical knowledge, but also apply it in research activities. The project plans to: Equip physics classrooms with modern laboratory equipment (sensors, measuring complexes, sets for experiments in mechanics, electricity, optics). Creation of a geographical STEM laboratory with interactive maps, new generation globes, equipment for studying climatic and natural processes. Implementation of a mathematics laboratory using specialized software for modeling, data analysis, visualization and development of logical thinking. Integration of digital technologies: interactive panels, software platforms for STEM education. The main goal is to improve the quality of education through the implementation of the STEM approach, the formation of key 21st century competencies in students and the development of their scientific and research potential. Among the specific goals: Development of critical, analytical and engineering thinking. Formation of practical skills in working with modern equipment. Increasing students' motivation to study natural and mathematical disciplines. Ensuring equal access to quality education for students in the community. Preparing students for future professions in the field of science, technology and engineering. Ways to achieve the goal Material and technical support Purchase of modern laboratory equipment and software. Arrangement of classrooms in accordance with STEM standards. Training of pedagogical personnel Conducting trainings, seminars and master classes for teachers. Introduction of innovative teaching methods (project, research, problem-based learning). Integration of the STEM approach into the educational process Development of cross-curricular curricula and STEM projects. Use of practical classes, experiments and research during lessons. Activation of student activity Creation of STEM circles, science clubs. Organization of competitions, hackathons, participation in scientific events. Monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness Tracking of student learning outcomes. Analysis of the level of interest and success. Adjustment of approaches based on the data obtained. Improving the qualifications of teachers in the use of new equipment and the implementation of modern teaching methods. The project also provides for the creation of conditions for cross-curricular integration, the implementation of educational projects, student participation in competitions, olympiads and research activities (in particular, in the MAN system).

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

Outdated material and technical base The available equipment does not allow for the full implementation of the practical component of training, which reduces the efficiency of knowledge acquisition. Low level of integration of modern technologies The lack of interactive equipment and digital tools limits the possibilities of visualizing complex processes and phenomena. Limited opportunities for students' research activities Students do not have sufficient access to modern laboratories, which complicates the development of their experimental and analytical skills. Insufficient motivation to study natural and mathematical disciplines Due to the predominantly theoretical approach to learning, students' interest in STEM subjects decreases. The need to improve the qualifications of teachers Teachers need additional training for the effective use of modern equipment and the introduction of innovative methods. Inconsistency with modern educational requirements The existing infrastructure does not fully ensure the implementation of the competency-based approach and the requirements of the New Ukrainian School. The implementation of the project to create STEM laboratories at the Khorol Gymnasium will allow for a comprehensive solution to existing problems and significantly modernize the educational environment of the institution. Updating the material and technical base The purchase of modern laboratory equipment, digital measuring complexes and educational kits will provide the opportunity to conduct full-fledged practical classes and experiments. This will allow moving from a demonstration format to active research activities of students. Integration of modern technologies into the educational process The introduction of interactive panels, specialized software and digital platforms will allow for the visualization of complex phenomena, modeling processes and conducting interactive lessons. This will make learning more accessible and understandable. Development of students' research and practical skills Thanks to work in STEM laboratories, students will have the opportunity to independently conduct experiments, analyze results and draw conclusions. This will contribute to the formation of scientific thinking, skills in working with data and solving practical problems. Increasing motivation for learning The use of modern equipment and interactive teaching methods will significantly increase students' interest in studying physics, geography and mathematics. Learning will become more dynamic, applied and related to real life. Professional development of teachers Conducting trainings and exercises will allow teachers to master new tools and methods (STEM, project and research learning), which will increase the quality of teaching and the effectiveness of the educational process. Compliance with modern educational standards The updated infrastructure will ensure the implementation of the competency-based approach and the requirements of the New Ukrainian School, and will contribute to the formation of key competencies and skills of the 21st century.
