General information

Description of the project

The reconstruction of the intersection of Koshuta & Ivan Franko streets in Tyachiv involves the conversion of the existing traffic node into a modern roundabout in order to increase safety and capacity, reduce congestion and accidents. The project plans to: dismantle outdated elements of traffic organization and pavement, install a central island and a ring roadway, install safety islands and approaches at entrances/exits, renew the road surface, install curbstones, apply horizontal markings and install road signs. It is also planned to improve conditions for pedestrians (renewed sidewalks/crossings, lowering curbs), if necessary - transfer/protection of utility networks and upgrade lighting. The implementation of the project will ensure orderly traffic flow, reduce intersection travel time, increase comfort for residents and guests of the city, and generally improve transport accessibility in the surrounding area.

The purpose of the project

Main goal:

Increasing compliance with modern standards

Secondary goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The main goal of the project is to increase the safety and efficiency of traffic at the intersection of Koshuta St. - Ivan Franka St. in Tyachiv by reconstructing the intersection with a roundabout, which will ensure: reducing the accident rate (especially side collisions and pedestrian strikes); reducing congestion and delays during peak hours and increasing the throughput capacity of the junction; calming the speed of traffic on the approaches to the intersection and reducing risks for vulnerable road users; improving conditions for pedestrians and groups with reduced mobility (safe crossings, lowering curbs, accessibility); streamlining the organization of traffic (logical trajectories, clear priorities, fewer conflict points); improving the comfort and quality of urban space (aesthetic solution, lighting, landscaping). Ways to achieve the goal (what exactly will be done) 1) Engineering and transport solution: arrangement of a roundabout Formation of a central island and a ring road with optimal radii. Organization of priority traffic on the ring (signs and markings). If necessary, geometric correction of access lanes (narrowing/widening, guide islands) to reduce speed and facilitate maneuvering. 2) Road safety Arrangement of safety islands on approaches to pedestrian crossings. Arrangement of pedestrian crossings in logical places with sufficient visibility (if necessary, lighting). Ensuring barrier-free access: lowering curbs, tactile elements (if necessary), convenient approaches. 3) Road surface and drainage Dismantling of existing deformed layers and arrangement of new road surface (base/leveling/finish layer). Arrangement of curbs and reinforcement of roadsides/adjacent areas. If necessary, arrangement of drainage (longitudinal/transverse slopes, trays, rain gutters) to prevent flooding and destruction of the coating. 4) Organization of road traffic (ODR) Installation of a set of road signs, including warning, priority and information signs. Application of horizontal markings: directional arrows, priority lines, “zebra”, stop lines. If necessary, installation of fences/guide posts, delineators, traffic calming elements. 5) Lighting and landscaping Renovation/modernization of street lighting in the ring area and crossings (with an emphasis on safety). Restoration of sidewalks, landscaping/arrangement of the central island (according to the project decision), cleaning and restoration of adjacent territories. 6) Engineering networks and related works Inspection and, if necessary, transfer/protection of communications (electricity, communications, water drainage, etc.). Coordination of technical solutions with network balance holders and services.
