Description of the project
Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Children's Hospital - a multidisciplinary medical and preventive institution, designed for 425 beds, providing a full cycle and a wide range of medical services - from reproductive care to pregnancy and childbirth and obtaining the necessary pediatric care for children from birth to 18 years. From the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, the hospital's specialists did not stop their work and daily provided a wide range of medical care to patients. During this period, medical care was provided to more than 250 children with mine and blast injuries. Every year, about 3 thousand surgical interventions are performed at the hospital. Almost 5 years ago, the existing surgical building of the hospital was to be dismantled due to its emergency condition, but the construction of a new surgical building was not started for various reasons. All this time, the hospital worked in cramped conditions. Given the martial law in the country, the issue of resuming the construction of a new surgical building, taking into account higher safety standards and requirements, has become urgent. The construction of a new surgical building in the city of Zaporizhia is not just a relevant, but a critically necessary step to ensure high-quality and safe medical care for children during martial law and post-war recovery. The construction of a new surgical building is of important strategic, social and medical importance - it will solve the issue of limiting the treatment areas in the institution and will allow, in wartime conditions, to ensure the continuity of the provision of urgent and planned surgical care, even in emergency situations (military threat, man-made disasters, radiation hazard, etc.). The project for the construction of a new surgical building provides for a 3-story building with 48 beds with an anti-radiation shelter. The shelter is designed for 144 people. The new building will include modern operating rooms, an intensive care unit, intensive care units, and high-tech equipment, which will allow a significant increase in the number of surgical interventions by 10-15%, reduce the level of postoperative complications, and shorten the duration of patients' hospital stays. This will contribute to an increase in bed turnover and optimization of the workload on medical staff. The presence of an anti-radiation shelter will ensure the continuity of care even in emergency conditions.
