General information

Description of the project

The project involves the construction of new local sewage treatment plants (LSTP) on the territory of the Dubov Lyceum of the Dubov Village Council of the Kovel District of the Volyn Region (Dubove Village, Pryshkilna St.).

Features and content of the project:

  • The project plans to equip a modern system for collecting, discharging and treating domestic wastewater generated as a result of the activities of the educational institution.
  • Installation of energy-efficient and environmentally safe local treatment plants that will ensure a high level of wastewater treatment to regulatory standards.
  • The use of modern biological treatment technologies that do not require complex maintenance and minimize the negative impact on the environment is envisaged. After treatment, wastewater can be discharged into natural water bodies or reused for technical needs (for example, watering green areas).

Problems solved by the project:

  • Lack of a proper wastewater treatment system on the territory of the lyceum.
  • Potential contamination of groundwater and surface water near the educational institution.
  • Non-compliance of existing conditions with sanitary and environmental standards.

Expected results of the project:

  • Ensuring stable and effective treatment of all wastewater from the lyceum.
  • Improving the sanitary and epidemiological condition of the territory and the conditions of stay of students and employees.
  • Reducing the negative impact on the environment and increasing environmental safety communities.
  • Creating a modern engineering infrastructure that will meet the requirements of sustainable development and environmental standards.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Increasing the even distribution of resources

Secondary Goal:

Contribution to climate or environmental goals, Increasing compliance with modern standards, Introducing innovations and energy-efficient solutions, Improving the quality of services

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

Main goal: Ensuring effective treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater on the territory of Dubivsky Lyceum by building modern local treatment facilities. This will contribute to improving the ecological state, sanitary and hygienic conditions and increasing the safety of the educational environment. Additional goal: Increasing the level of environmental safety and sanitary conditions not only for the Lyceum, but also for four other educational institutions that are provided with food from the catering unit of the Lyceum's main kitchen. Detailed description of the goal and methods for achieving it: To achieve the goal, the project provides for: - new construction of local sewage treatment facilities (LST) on the territory of the Lyceum; - arrangement of a system for collecting, transporting and treating domestic and industrial wastewater from the catering unit of the main kitchen; - use of modern biological treatment technologies that guarantee compliance of treated water with regulatory requirements; - installation of energy-efficient equipment with minimal operating costs; - arrangement of a sanitary protection zone in accordance with environmental standards. Justification of the gap between the current and target state: Currently, the lyceum does not have a wastewater treatment system, generated not only from sanitary and household premises, but also from the catering unit of the main kitchen, which serves four more educational institutions. This creates a serious environmental and sanitary burden. The construction of a VOC will eliminate the source of pollution, improve the sanitary condition and ensure the environmental safety of the institution and the community.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

Main problems: - lack of a system for cleaning domestic and industrial wastewater; - environmental load on soil and water resources; - risk of spreading infections and violation of sanitary and epidemiological standards; - increased load due to the functioning of the support kitchen, which serves five educational institutions (lyceum + 4 schools). Expected implementation results: - creation of a modern, energy-efficient system for local wastewater treatment; - full utilization and disinfection of wastewater to regulatory standards; - improvement of the sanitary and hygienic condition of the lyceum and the surrounding area; - increase in the level of environmental safety and quality of life of community residents; - ensuring the safe operation of the catering unit, which serves several educational institutions.

Demand for the service and its dynamics

What methodology was used to estimate demand?
