Description of the project

The project aims to eliminate physical, navigational and functional barriers, as well as to improve the quality of space use without the need for outside assistance.

The purpose of the project

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

Ensuring the constitutional right of every community resident to unhindered access to government and local self-government bodies. Transformation of the city's main administrative building into a space of full accessibility, openness and democracy in accordance with European standards and state building codes of Ukraine (DBN V.2.2-40:2018 "Inclusivity of buildings and structures"). Elimination of any physical barriers that limit the participation of people with disabilities, the elderly and parents with children in the public life of the city (attending sessions, receiving citizens, obtaining certificates). Demonstration of the social responsibility of the city authorities and creating an example of a barrier-free environment for other city institutions. Ensuring safe evacuation and minimizing the risks of injury to visitors at the entrance group at any time of the year.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

Arrangement of regulatory stairs with double-sided handrails, contrasting marking of the first and last steps and tactile elements. Arrangement of ramps with a regulatory slope to ensure barrier-free access to the building. Replacement of entrance doors with those that meet the requirements of the Building Code: without thresholds or with minimal contrasting thresholds, of sufficient width and easy to use. Installation of information and navigation signs, including using contrasting solutions and Braille. Arrangement of tactile indicators of the direction of movement and warning zones in accordance with the needs of people with visual impairments. Ensuring sufficient lighting of the stairs and the entrance area for safe use in the evening and at night.
