The purpose of the project: to ensure the protection of the coastal area and engineering infrastructure of the city of Sambor from destruction and flooding by constructing bank fortifications on the left bank of the Dniester River. To achieve this goal, a complex of engineering and hydraulic works is planned, in particular: strengthening the coastline with a stone cape, installing retaining structures and protective dams, installing drainage channels, conducting planning and drainage works. The implementation of these measures will allow stabilizing the riverbed, preventing erosion processes and minimizing the risks of flooding of adjacent territories. Today, the left bank of the Dniester River within the city of Sambor is experiencing intense erosion and erosion, which poses a threat to residential buildings, road infrastructure and municipal facilities. The lack of effective bank fortifications leads to annual losses and environmental risks. The implementation of the project will eliminate these hazards, achieving the target state - a stabilized coastal slope, reducing the risk of flooding, and increasing the level of safety for the population and infrastructure facilities.

The key problems that the project implementation should solve are the intensive erosion of the left bank of the Dniester River, the danger of flooding of coastal areas, the destruction of protective embankments and the threat of damage to residential buildings and engineering infrastructure facilities of the city of Sambor. These problems are especially relevant in the context of increasing flood frequency and changing climate conditions, which cause an increase in the water level in the river and an increase in destructive processes. If the situation is not resolved, further destruction of the coastline, loss of land plots, damage to utility networks, flooding of residential areas and deterioration of the ecological state of the aquatic environment are possible. The implementation of the project will ensure stabilization of the riverbed, reduction of the risk of flood damage, increase the level of population safety and preservation of the natural environment, which will contribute to the sustainable development of the urban area.
