General information

Description of the project

The project is aimed at creating a modern, safe and innovative educational environment in  Zinkiv  M.K. Zerov Support Lyceum, namely, equipping 3 classrooms: physics, chemistry, STEM - laboratory.  According to the plan for forming a network of general secondary education institutions of the relevant administrative-territorial unit in the 2027/2028 academic year, the institution will not provide  specialized secondary education, the basis for the decision of the thirty-third session of the eighth convocation of August 30, 2024 No. 861 "On approval of the Plan for forming a network of educational institutions that will provide complete general secondary education from September 1, 2027, and their indicative list"  To create a modern educational space, classrooms will be renovated  and equipment will be purchased by the end of 2026. Number of participants to be covered:  chemistry, physics - 379 students, STEM - laboratories 877 students  with branches, teaching staff  25 people.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Increasing compliance with modern standards

Secondary Goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

STEM laboratories and physics/chemistry classrooms are essential for transforming theoretical knowledge into practical skills through experiments, modeling, and robotics. They develop critical thinking, teamwork, and an understanding of modern technology, which is critical for future engineering or scientific careers, connecting theory to everyday life. Unlike books, laboratories allow students to conduct a chemical reaction or physical experiment on their own, which is much better for learning the material. STEM prepares students for the realities of the job market, where programming, 3D modeling, and equipment skills are in demand. Students learn not only “what” to study, but also “how” to research, formulate hypotheses, and test them by solving real-world problems. Modern classrooms help students make informed choices about STEM careers by understanding how knowledge is applied in practice. Working in a laboratory develops teamwork skills, which are important soft skills. The use of such classrooms is an investment in intellectual development, which turns learning into an exciting creative process. The overhaul of classrooms (laboratories), which will house the purchased material and technical equipment, in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science, will be carried out by the end of the year at the expense of local budgets without including such costs in the amount of co-financing.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

Moral obsolescence: Using analog measuring instruments instead of digital sensors does not allow for high-precision experiments. • Low engagement (Encompassment): Due to the lack of handouts, students act only as spectators, not as active researchers. • Lack of integration: Classrooms exist as isolated units. Physics does not “communicate” with chemistry or programming, which contradicts the principles of STEM. • Lack of consumables: Lack of budget for chemical reagents, plastic for 3D printers, or electronic components (Arduino, sensors). Modernization is not just about replacing old desks with new ones. It is a transition from passive accumulation of knowledge to active construction of reality.
