General information

Description of the project

The project involves the major renovation of a section of Bratska Street in the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka in order to create a barrier-free route for people with reduced mobility. The implementation of the first stage of the 1 km route will ensure safe, convenient and unhindered movement of pedestrians, including people with disabilities, the elderly, parents with strollers and other MGN, as well as improve access to social and public infrastructure facilities.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Ensuring inclusiveness and equal opportunities

Secondary Goal:

Increasing compliance with modern standards, Increasing compliance with modern standards, Improving the condition of infrastructure, Reducing territorial or social gaps

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

The goal of the project is to ensure inclusivity and equality of opportunity by creating a barrier-free pedestrian route on Bratska Street in the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka, which will provide safe and convenient access to public, administrative and transport infrastructure facilities for all population groups, including persons with disabilities and other groups with limited mobility. The achievement of this goal is envisaged through the implementation of a set of measures, including: the construction and restoration of sidewalks with regulatory slopes, lowering curbs at intersections with the carriageway, the construction of ramps, the arrangement of manholes to the level of the sidewalk, the application of road markings and the installation of pedestrian crossing signs, the construction of traffic calming elements, as well as the removal of physical obstacles that complicate the movement of pedestrians.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

The main problem is the lack of a barrier-free, safe and continuous pedestrian environment on Bratska Street, which significantly limits the possibilities of movement for people with disabilities, low-mobility groups, the elderly, parents with strollers and other pedestrians. The existing infrastructure is characterized by the absence or unsatisfactory condition of sidewalks, non-standard ramps, the absence of lowered curbs, road markings and pedestrian crossing signs, as well as numerous physical obstacles. These problems are especially relevant at the moment, since Bratska Street provides access to social, administrative, transport and commercial infrastructure facilities, in particular educational, trade, transport and public institutions. The existing barriers create increased risks of injury, limit independent movement and actually exclude part of the population from the full use of public space. If these problems are not resolved, inequality of access to services will persist, road safety and the quality of life of community residents will deteriorate. The implementation of the project will eliminate infrastructure barriers, create a continuous barrier-free route, increase pedestrian safety, ensure equal mobility opportunities for all population groups, and improve the accessibility of key community facilities.
