Restoration of Pavilion No. 1 of the National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine"

During the preliminary technical inspection of pavilion No. 1 (a monument of cultural heritage of national significance with protection number 260109/2 in accordance with the resolution of the CMU of November 10, 2021 No. 1180), it was established that the building needs urgent complex repair and restoration works with the translation of outdated engineering networks, replacement of emergency internal and external structural elements, etc., which today are a threat to the preservation of the monument itself. The building has construction structures with damage and defects that indicate a decrease in their load-bearing capacity, non-compliance with the requirements of reliability and safe operation has been established. Frequent emergency situations caused by wear and tear of water supply/sewerage, heat networks and corresponding equipment have negatively affected the architectural condition  object. Wetting of structures with water led to partial destruction of coatings and external  layers of structures, cracks in columns, collapse of external decorative elements, destruction of interior decoration, destruction of roll, glass and galvanized coating, led to warping of doors and the formation of significant cracks in windows.

 These defects and damages, in addition to the negative visual perception of the object, had a bad effect on the state of electrical networks and electrical equipment.

 Threat of collapse of building structures and dangerous operation of engineering networks and equipment  gave an impetus to the search  solving a serious problem.  

  The implementation of the Project involves the full restoration of engineering networks and equipment,  building structures of pavilion #1:

1) Restoration of electrical networks and equipment:

-dismantling worn-out equipment and electrical networks;

-repair work and installation of new equipment;

- commissioning works.

The planned volume of repair and installation works of the electrical management of the building includes a complete replacement of networks/equipment due to their wear and tear and unsafe operation, namely:

- replacement of internal cable networks 0.4 kV – 13,015 linear meters;

-replacement of input-distribution device – 1 pc. ;

-replacement of main technical shields – 2 pcs. ;

-replacement of technical shields  - 50 pcs.;

-replacement of lighting shields  – 17 pcs.;

-replacement of power shields – 2 pcs.;

-replacement of internal light and technical equipment in exhibition halls, offices, stairwells, public toilets, etc.;

-replacement of external architectural lighting;

-replacement of the signal-warning lighting on the spire.

2) Restoration of water supply and sewage networks, equipment:

-dismantling of   old metal water supply and cast iron sewage networks, plumbing equipment;

-repair works and installation of new equipment;

- commissioning works.

 The planned volume of repair and installation works of the water supply and sewage system of the building also includes the complete replacement of networks/equipment due to their wear and dangerous operation . In addition, frequent emergency situations lead to the destruction of decorative elements of the building and the loss of its authenticity.

The list of planned works includes:

-replacement of cold water supply metal pipes with plastic ones (with shut-off and regulating fittings) – 600 square meters;

-replacement of cast iron sewers  pipes on plastic  - 180 square meters;

-replacement of toilets in a public restroom – 10 pcs.;

-replacement in official toilets – 1 pc.;

-replacement of urinals in a public restroom – 2 pcs.;

-replacement of washbasins in restrooms – 8 pcs.;

-installation of a fire extinguishing system pumping station with a control cabinet – 1 pc.;

-complex replacement of the storm (rain) sewage system with the installation of an ice-melting system – 1 pc.

3) Restoration of the heat supply system:

-dismantling of old cast iron equipment and pipes;

-repair works and installation of new equipment;

- commissioning works.

The planned volume of restoration works of the heat supply system involves the complete replacement of existing networks/equipment.

This list includes:

-replacement of heating radiators (with connection fittings) :

• in the offices  2 floors– 12 pcs. ;
• in public toilets – 9 pcs.;
• on stairwells – 20 pcs.

- in exhibition halls  it is planned to install fan coils in the amount of 16 pcs. ;

- replacement of the heat metering unit with a distribution comb  - 1 pc. ;

- replacement of pipes of the heating system with polypropylene - 600 units. meters.

4) Restoration of building structures involves:

-Repair of the roof:

• replacing the glass part – 1,750 sq.m. ;
• replacement of a roll roof – 2,000 sq.m. ;
• repair of a galvanized roof – 100 square meters

- Repair of the basement : 

•   wall sealing – 18 square meters;
• concrete floor repair – 25 square meters

 - Repair work in a public toilet after repairs to electrical and water supply networks/equipment:

• wall tiling – 600 square meters;
• floor tiling – 150 square meters

 - Repair of external facades of the building – 8,200 square meters;

 - Plastering, decoration of walls, ceilings – 850 square meters;

 - Painting of internal surfaces – 4,250 square meters;

• Replacing the exit door to the rotunda – 1 pc.

It is planned to carry out   the entire complex of restoration works of pavilion #1 over the course of eight months in 2025 – from May to December. Production of design and estimate documentation for the restoration of the declared volumes is expected  for March-April - UAH 394,000. (with VAT), while author's and technical supervision of the restoration work process is planned for May-December - 405,000 hryvnias (with VAT).
