Reconstruction of boiler room No. 1 of the KP "Smilakomunteploenergo" in the city of Smila, Cherkasy region, by installing a solar power plant
The project plans to reconstruct the existing gas boiler house by installing (connecting) a 530 kW cogeneration unit on its territory to generate electricity and heat. The existing boiler house is completely dependent on external electrical networks, which, in the conditions of a systemic power shortage in the Ukrainian energy system, reduces its ability to produce and transport heat to end consumers. The existing boiler house is equipped with a backup power source (diesel generator), but such a solution is short-term, since it only helps to temporarily support the system. Using a backup power source for long-term/continuous operation of the boiler house in today's conditions is not relevant, as it requires constant fuel consumption and creates an excessive financial burden on the enterprise. By installing a cogeneration unit, the existing boiler house will be able to switch to a high-tech combined cycle of operation, and the useful use of a unit of natural gas will double, because the boiler house will produce not only heat energy, but also electricity. Due to the fact that the boiler house with a CHP will produce electricity at the place of consumption (self-sufficiency), losses during its transportation will be reduced. Thus, the operating boiler house will gain the ability to operate autonomously in blackouts, which guarantees uninterrupted provision of services to the population.
