General information

Description of the project

The project involves the construction of new treatment facilities on a land plot of 3.7875 hectares, located 1 km from the city, with a sanitary protection zone of 200 m. The installation of a modern biological plant "BIOTAL" with a capacity of 200 m³/day will allow not only to meet environmental standards, but also to significantly reduce the negative impact on the environment, ensuring safety for city residents.

The purpose of the project

Main Goal:

Creation of new facilities and services

Secondary Goal:

Improving the condition of infrastructure

Description of the purpose of the project and ways to achieve it

Ensuring environmental safety and stable livelihoods of community residents through the reconstruction and modernization of the treatment facilities of the city of Mena, creating a reliable and high-tech wastewater treatment complex.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

1. Pollution of water resources - untreated wastewater with toxic substances, microbes and heavy metals will enter rivers, lakes and groundwater; the level of chemical and bacteriological pollution will increase. 2. Threat to public health - spread of infectious diseases (dysentery, hepatitis A, intestinal infections); risk of poisoning by water and food grown on contaminated land. 3. Environmental consequences - mass death of fish and other aquatic organisms; destruction of natural ecosystems and loss of biodiversity. 4. Socio-economic consequences - additional costs for eliminating the consequences of pollution; deterioration of living conditions of the population and reduction of the tourist attractiveness of the territory; possible fines and sanctions from environmental services. 5. Long-term damage - accumulation of toxins in soil and water, which can affect several generations; deterioration of access to high-quality drinking water.
