General information

Description of the project

The project involves the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Prosvita Street and Khimikiv Street in Ivano-Frankivsk. The solution is aimed at replacing the existing transport hub, which does not fully provide the proper level of safety and capacity in the conditions of increasing traffic intensity and the formation of a new exit to the bridge from Khimikiv Street. The project involves the construction of a roundabout, approaches to it, sidewalks, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, pedestrian crossings, outdoor lighting, drainage, traffic management, landscaping and barrier-free measures. The implementation of the project will ensure a reduction in the number of conflict points, increased safety for all traffic participants, improved transport accessibility, more stable passage of traffic flows and better integration of existing and new street and road infrastructure in the northern part of Ivano-Frankivsk

The project aims to improve the transport infrastructure of the Ivano-Frankivsk urban territorial community by constructing a new roundabout at the intersection of Prosvita Street and Khimikiv Street. The project should improve road safety, reduce the number of conflict points at the intersection, streamline traffic flows, and improve the capacity of the transport hub in the area of the new bridge connection. In addition, the project aims to expand residents' access to goods and services by improving daily mobility, reducing traffic delays, and creating safe conditions for pedestrians, cyclists, people with disabilities, and other low-mobility groups. The goal is to be achieved by constructing an unregulated roundabout at one level, sidewalks, pedestrian and bicycle paths, outdoor lighting, drainage systems, traffic management facilities, and landscaping the surrounding area.

Problems and solutions resulting from project implementation

The key problem is that the existing intersection of Prosvita St. and Khimikiv St. in its current configuration forms conflict points of intersection of traffic flows, does not provide optimal traffic organization and requires increased safety in conditions of increasing traffic intensity and development of the adjacent street and road network. An additional factor is the formation of a new exit to the bridge immediately after the interchange, which increases the importance of this node for the entire transport system of the city. In the absence of project implementation, the risks of accidents, traffic delays, inefficient flow distribution and inconvenience for pedestrians and cyclists will remain. The implementation of the project will allow to form a safe and understandable transport node, reduce the number of conflict maneuvers, increase the throughput capacity of approaches, improve pedestrian and bicycle accessibility
