The need for the construction of new nuclear power units to replace the capacities of nuclear power plants that will be decommissioned after 2030 is determined by the "Energy Strategy for the period until 2050", which was approved by the decree of the CMU of April 21, 2023 No. 373-r.
A detailed description of the project goal and the way to achieve it
Ensuring Ukraine's energy independence and strengthening the country's role in the international electricity market. Increasing the electrical capacity of the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant.
The main purpose is the production of electricity at competitive prices. The commissioning of power units No. 5 and No. 6 of the Khmelnytskyi NPP will provide additional electricity supply to the energy system of Ukraine.
