Ensuring barrier-free access to institutions providing social services

Today, there are about 1,500 communal institutions of social service providers operating in Ukraine, which are located in communities and provide social services to residents of relevant administrative-territorial units and internally displaced persons who have moved from communities where active hostilities are taking place, which are temporarily occupied or under shelling At the same time, the main problem is that the majority of such facilities are not inclusive and are not accessible to people with reduced mobility. A significant part of institutions providing social services do not have sufficient funding for the repair and adaptation of their institutions and premises to the needs of groups with limited mobility, the issue of inclusiveness is extremely acute and urgent, but modern realities, especially those related to armed aggression, do not allow full development solve the mentioned issue and create accessible premises of institutions providing social services. The approximate number of such institutions is about 80% of the total number (about 1,200 premises). Every day, the share of people belonging to the population groups with low mobility is increasing, the trend of increasing such a number of people is being followed, which requires prompt response to challenges and finding ways to solve the problem. Adaptation of the premises of communal providers of social services will contribute to their greater convenience and accessibility for persons who especially need to visit or stay in them. In addition, the issue of arrangement in shelter premises for the safe stay of recipients of social services is important, especially in today's conditions.

The goal of the project is to transform the premises of social service providers into institutions that will be safe, accessible and inclusive for all categories of the population, without exception, by equipping them with the necessary technical equipment and arranging shelters.
